Bringing Bright Smiles to Little Faces!

Dental Home

The concept of 'dental home,' as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, refers to the enduring bond between dentist and patient. This encompasses all facets of oral health care, provided in a comprehensive, readily available, coordinated, and family-centered manner

It should be established within the first year of birth for -

  • Proactive advice aimed at assisting parents in comprehending what to anticipate and how to manage their child’s oral health throughout each phase of growth and development.
  • Early diagnosis of dental disease to arrest the progression well in time.
  • Providing specialized care tailored to the needs of your child.
  • Implementing preventive measures.

Preventive Dental Care

The age-old adage 'prevention is better than cure' holds true for dental health too. By implementing straightforward preventive measures, you can ensure your child maintains a cavity-free smile.

Our preventive dental care services include -

  • Anticipatory guidance.
  • Oral Prophylaxis / Tooth cleaning.
  • Pit and fissure sealants.
  • Topical Fluoride application.

Management of Dental Cavities

Diagnosing a dental cavity early can aid in the use of minimally invasive techniques

  • Early lesions - appear as white spots or specks of light brown patches that may not be noticed easily.
  • Cavities with loss of enamel only – Only the outermost layer of the tooth is lost and requires a simple tooth-coloured filling.
  • Cavities into the dentine – The middle protective layer of the tooth called dentine is infected. This requires a protective layer to be placed before a filling can be done or a crown can be given.
  • Cavities in the pulp – The innermost living part of the tooth that has the nerves and blood vessels are infected. This requires complete elimination of infection and replacement by a medicated material i.e., pulp therapy.
  • Cavities that have eaten into the tooth and supporting bone – These teeth cannot be saved and need to be removed.

Preventive Orthodontic Care

Preventive Orthodontic care helps in preventing the development of any malalignment of teeth and jaws. Monitoring the following can help anticipate the need for care -

  • Space between the child's teeth.
  • The shape of the arches and supporting structures that hold teeth.
  • Early loss of child's teeth.
  • Balance of muscles of the face and mouth.
  • Oral habits – thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, teeth grinding.

Age for prevention of orthodontic problems -

Approximately 2 – 7 years of age  -

From when all child teeth erupt in the mouth till the first permanent molar erupts.

Interceptive Orthodontic Care

Interceptive Orthodontic care focuses on detecting and correcting potential irregularities and misalignments in the growth of teeth and jaws early on. This proactive approach can help prevent the need for more complex fixed orthodontic treatments later.

Early diagnosis is crucial to allow interception at the right time.

Regular follow-up visits allow for early detection and correction of developing irregularities.

Airway Dentistry

It's essential to recognize and tackle issues concerning airway obstruction and breathing disorders, as they can significantly affect your child's overall health and growth. Detecting signs of airway issues during regular dental check-ups, like narrow dental arches, enlarged tonsils, or incorrect tongue positioning, enables timely intervention and planning. We collaborate closely with pediatricians and sleep specialists to evaluate and address conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and habitual mouth breathing, ensuring comprehensive care for your child.
